Case Studies

In early 2025, a prominent not-for-profit community hospital and trauma center in California—renowned for its commitment to quality, safety and patient- centered care—faced an urgent staffing emergency.

Partnership began when the client faced a significant staffing shortfall, needing 70 nurses for its Med-Surg and Critical Care units. Over a three-year period, Fastaff has evolved from a vendor to become a collaborative ally.

When a long-standing client faced the challenge of re-opening their hospital after a devastating fire, Fastaff was there to provide critical support. Having partnered with this client since 2001, we were ready to step in and help.

In January 2018, the flu season hit its peak, becoming the most widespread in over a decade. Hospitals needed quick and adaptable solutions as they faced increased patient numbers and staff illnesses.

During a period of peak census, St. Johns turned to Fastaff for help filling critical specialty positions. By working closely with Fastaff, St. Johns successfully brought in 150 nurses across various specialty units, including NICU and CVOR.

A New Jersey health system with three hospitals faced a sudden staffing crisis due to an electronic medical record (EMR) conversion project being moved up. The facility desperately needed over 150 experienced RNs.

When a major Washington hospital needed over 100 nurses for an upcoming electronic medical records (EMR) upgrade, they chose Fastaff for their financial guarantee of providing the nurses quickly.

In 2017, Fastaff met urgent staffing needs for three consecutive crises, demonstrating their ability to provide adaptable solutions.

Wickenburg Community Hospital, a critical-access hospital in Arizona, struggled to compete with larger cities and recruit nursing graduates, leading to an urgent need for various positions.

Lovelace Health System, a prominent healthcare provider in Albuquerque, New Mexico, needed a contingent staffing solution for its large-scale shift from McKesson to Epic electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

When a southwestern health system's EMR upgrade failed and was taken offline for almost a week, it put 10 facilities at risk. Nurse managers faced a data backlog and the urgent need for experienced nurses to maintain quality patient care.

Implementing an EMR system is a challenging and time-consuming process. For a major medical center in Hawaii, that challenge was amplified by its remote location and budget limitations during a busy season.

The ACA spurred change, offering higher reimbursements to hospitals adopting EMRs by 2014, challenging facilities like the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center to train staff on new systems while ensuring quality patient care.

When Sauk Prairie Hospital, a 36-bed rural facility in Wisconsin, urgently required step-down nurses for their progressive care unit (PCU), they turned to Fastaff.

When Pali Momi Medical Center, located outside of Honolulu, Hawaii, experienced an unexpected increase in patients, they urgently needed two intensive care unit (ICU) nurses within four days.
