Why do you love working with Fastaff?
One of the main reasons why I like working with Fastaff is ease of transition to assignments. I find that when working with Fastaff, everything is set up completely to accomplish the goal and I will have no doubts on what's happening when and where. Fastaff is always prompt in their dealings and professional with any situation that may arise.
What do you love about nursing?
What I personally love about nursing is the feeling of satisfaction of making a difference in someone's life. Being at the bedside you see every person at their lowest, or to be more specific, their weakest point. Every person will always have a time when they're in their greatest need and being a nurse personally helping them during that time of need is very fulfilling, both emotionally and spiritually.
What makes travel nursing rewarding for you?
Being a travel nurse is rewarding for me because of the exposure I get to many different places and atmospheres of healthcare. Traveling all over the country allows me to see what is out there in healthcare and get a feel for what the real problems and real solutions are to making our healthcare system in America better. No, I won't deny the fact that it's lovely to be in a new place and see so many different things, but being able to experience different healthcare settings gives a feel of how we are connected throughout the healthcare system, allowing healthcare as whole to find solutions that can be implemented if we work together.
Describe a time where you felt more valuable/respected because of the experience and knowledge you gained from your Fastaff assignment.
The time I felt respected during my experience on a Fastaff assignment would have to be my current assignment. The hospital I am working at is striving to be better and looking for different possible avenues to increase their efficiency in their healthcare process. They're currently asking travelers to give insight on this and I've personally given as much as I could to aid them in this goal.
What has been your most challenging Fastaff assignment (a difficult case, surgery, patient illness, etc.) and how did you feel that impacted your worth as a nurse afterwards?
My most challenging assignment for Fastaff would have to be at a facility in Missouri. My most difficult case was with a man who had very advanced stage pancreatic cancer. It was more or less not really the difficulty of the illness, but the effect it was having on the patient's family and making sure he was as comfortable as possible. The experience impacted my worth as a nurse because it gave me a better understanding of how much I have to advocate for not only my patients, but for family members too during the toughest time of their life. It basically just reaffirmed my original belief that we have to be the best we can be and not only caring for ourselves and our patients, but most importantly those around us. Like a famous philosopher once said, no life is ever your own. It belongs to you and the ones that you love.
Describe the most miraculous or impressive thing you’ve witnessed or been a part of during your time as a nurse with Fastaff.
The most miraculous thing I've been a part of since becoming a nurse at Fastaff is the professionalism and compassion during the Santa Rosa fires. During one of the scariest parts of my time of traveling, my recruiter and the company were with me every step of the way to ensure not only my safety, but my comfort. It was good to know that they were always there if I needed them and I was never left in the dark
How have you accomplished some of your personal and professional goals by traveling with Fastaff (i.e. family life, financial freedom, more personal freedom, etc.)?
I've accomplished many of my personal goals by paying back a lot of my debts and being able to become chemotherapy certified and further my career in specialty of oncology. I felt like through working with Fastaff, I've been through a lot of places where I can see what it's like working with cancer and it's influenced me to make the decision that I want to be in some way, shape, form, or fashion, a part of the oncology unit.
