Blog & News/How Fastaff Supports our Travelers
As conversations around patient behavior and respect in healthcare gain national attention, the voice of nurses is more important than ever. And Fastaff advocates for the voice of the nurse.
Recently, Karen O’Donnell Fountain MBA, MSN, BSN, RN and Fastaff Director of Clinical Services spoke on this issue in HuffPost. The article highlights an important but often overlooked reality that nurses, especially those on the front lines, are frequently misunderstood despite being essential to patient care.
“The rudeness is in thinking that RNs are not a vital part of health care and that we depend on the doctor rather than being highly trained and educated and critical providers of health care,” said Karen O’Donnell Fountain, Fastaff ER nurse and director of clinical services. “Some people are under the false impression that doctors can do anything better than a nurse when in fact, RNs hold a solemn responsibility for patient care.”
Travel nurses, in particular, step into unfamiliar environments and immediately take on high levels of responsibility, often during staffing shortages or crises.
Nurses are not secondary to care; they are central to it.
For Fastaff, supporting nurses means recognizing their expertise, valuing their contributions and ensuring they can work in environments where they are treated with professionalism.
Support also means providing resources for Fastaff traveler’s well-being and career growth, which are available through the Ingenovis Health clinician experience.
While on assignment, Fastaff travel nurses receive:
