Pediatric Cardiac ICU Travel Nurse Jobs

Becoming a peds CVICU travel nurse right out of school can be challenging, but we're here to help you succeed. After obtaining an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing and an active RN license, you'll need the following credentials:

• One to two years of pediatric cardiac intensive care experience

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

In your role, you provide comprehensive care to young patients with cardiovascular conditions. Key tasks differ depending on the shift, though they typically include:

• Educating and supporting pediatric patients and their families.

• Monitoring vital signs, cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics and oxygenation levels.

• Administering sedatives, vasoactive drips, anticoagulants and other weight-based medications.

• Managing equipment, including ventilators, arterial lines, central venous catheters and chest tubes.

• Addressing rapid changes in patient status, including cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

• Working alongside cardiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver integrated care.
