A Fastaff Nurse’s Journey from ER to Entrepreneur

For many RNs, travel nursing opens the door to adventure, professional growth, and new possibilities. For Fastaff nurse Natifah Sealey, it also became the foundation for something even bigger, a business built on passion, purpose, and a deep appreciation for her fellow healthcare professionals.

While working full-time as an Emergency Room RN on travel assignments, Natifah launched her own medical scrub brand, Scrub Topic, with a mission to celebrate and support those who care for others.

The scrubs Natifah designs are not only on-trend, but they’re also built for the realities of healthcare.

“I asked nurses what kind of scrubs they would like to purchase,” she explained. “Based on their responses, I designed breathable, stylish and comfortable scrubs that would make 12-hour shifts effortless.” Her designs reflect the needs of real professionals: easy to wash, durable, and made to move.

What makes her brand stand out is the heart behind it. “Quality is top priority,” she said, “but the smiles on my customers’ faces are rewarding to know they love the material and fit.” Her scrubs are more than apparel—they’re a symbol of pride and connection.

That sense of connection is central to her mission. “The healthcare industry is much like a family,” she said. “Other branches outside of my profession are like distant cousins. We all have a part to play in ensuring patients are cared for.”

Through social media and future collaborations, she’s building a community that spans disciplines and specialties.

Balancing business with bedside care isn’t easy, but through dedication, care for healthcare professionals and hard work, she gets it done.

“I try to complete most of my business responsibilities on my off days,” Natifah shared. “It’s difficult when I have to complete a 36-hour work week, and I need friends and family to help me.” A strong support system and a reliable team help keep things running smoothly while she’s on assignment.

The response from fellow nurses has been positive. “Nurses adore the scrub designs,” she said. “The feedback has been filled with quality and aspiring criticism. The atmosphere is a great one and will only amplify as time progresses.”

Looking ahead, she’s focused on growth—expanding across the U.S., building a global presence and collaborating with other healthcare entrepreneurs.

Her advice to other nurses with a dream? “Start now. Be relentless and execute plans, no matter what doubts may arise. Surround yourself with people who believe. Above all else, believe in yourself first.”
