Blog & News/Fastaff Nurses Attend Colorado Avalanche Nurse Appreciation Night
At Fastaff, we’re grateful for the opportunity to work with nurses who help ensure continuous quality patient care in communities across America. To show our gratitude, Fastaff partnered with the Colorado Avalanche to treat nine nurses on assignment in Colorado, and their guests, to a special night of live hockey. On March 7th, the Avalanche hosted a Nurse Appreciation Night that featured a pre-game speech by Kelley Johnson, RN, Miss Colorado.
Nurses on assignment in Colorado were sent an email invitation, and the first 10 nurses to RSVP were awarded with the tickets, which included a pair of Avalanche scrubs. As an added last-minute bonus, our team learned that pre-game bench seat tickets were available, and they worked hard to obtain the tickets, giving our nurses a chance to see the AVs practice right before the game.
Prior to face-off, our nurses attended a meet and greet with Miss Colorado, who also happens to be a nurse. Miss Colorado captivated our nurses’ attention as she talked about her own nursing journey, and her ability to shine a light on the importance of nurses. She emphasized that nurses can be more and do more, which was inspirational to the entire audience.
After coming in second runner-up in the Miss America pageant, Miss Colorado humbly said “I’m glad I didn’t win. If I did win, then I’d be traveling across the country doing photoshoots and promotions, but instead, because I came in second place, I still have that coverage and I can use it to talk about how important nursing is and the benefits of the nursing field.”
Our staff was happy to share this experience with a few of our wonderful nurses.
