Assignments Of Many Travel Nurse Jobs

There are many duties and responsibilities of travel nurse jobs. Travel nurses are wanted in almost all states and in many different specialties. Depending on where the demand is, and what your specialties are, you could work anywhere from California to New York. In order to find a successful travel nurse job, you have to know the basics of the job and what the demands are.

In general, travel nurse jobs are contracted for short-term assignments through agencies that specialize in placing travelers. Each travel nurse job assigns a nurse to a specific location where they will work for several weeks to several months. From there, they may be reassigned to another location, depending on where the demand is. The travel nursing agency usually supplies each travel nurse with housing and travel reimbursement. The agency might also provide licensing reimbursement, healthcare benefits and a retirement plan. With travel nursing jobs, everyone wins. The hospital fills a position temporarily and the nurse gets paid above market wages to work and live in a new location.

The length of each assignment in the travel nurse job will vary, depending on the location and the number of people that are needed. A typical assignment might last as little as 4 weeks or as long as 26 weeks. The assignment can be extended, however, this would only happen if both the facility and nurse agreed to prolong the assignment. You can count on 8-13 weeks as a guideline for a normal contract though.

Often in travel nurse jobs, you will find a location that you like particularly well. Depending on the assignment, you might be able to extend the assignment further, allowing you to stay longer in that location. Keep in mind, however, that the positions are temporary and will likely remain temporary. Most travel nurses find that they prefer to move often, taking to the open road whenever their assignment has been fulfilled.
