"I am originally from Sierra Leone West Africa, where I trained to be a
Registered Nurse.
I went to London, England to study midwifery and I studied and obtained a diploma
in ophthalmic nurse and in urological and nephrological nursing.
I practiced as a midwife in London before returning to Sierra Leone where I
was a midwife at a diamond mine company hospital.
In 1985 I came to the U.S. after passing the CGFNS and NCLEX. I gained
sponsorship for myself and my children through a hospital in Washington, D.C.
In return I contracted to work for the hospital for two years. However,
I ended up working for this facility for 16 years until it closed in 2001.
Then a friend of mine told me about travel nursing and FASTAFF. She introduced
me to the company and I submitted my file and got started right away.
My first assignment was in California. My second was in New Jersey where
I worked for 10 weeks. I returned to California and I've been in the same
hospital since 2004.
I love the financial stability that FASTAFF affords me. I go where I want
to go and I work whenever I want to work.
I have full time benefits, medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k)
and I have enjoyed learning new skills and being educated on new developments
in my specialty - Labor & Delivery.
I have also been able to provide financial help to my family here and back in
Sierra Leone.
My eldest daughter is in the U.S. Army and she is also in school for her B.S.
in computer technology. She is married and has a baby boy.
My other daughter is also married and has a baby boy. She is in graduate
school obtaining her Masters degree in Public Health.
I have met and made many friends while travel nursing. I have also been
able to vacation to new places with the friends I've met while on assignment.
The company has been good to me and I get bonuses when I least expect them!
And my recruiter, Bella, is wonderful."
