General Questions What is the typical length
of a travel RN assignment?
Assignment length is typically 8-13 weeks with some assignments as short
as 4 weeks. Nurses may be asked to extend their assignment and many of our
nurses have been known to stay at a hospital for over a year.
How many hours per week will
I work at my assignment?
FASTAFF travel nurse assignments have guaranteed hours. You may work 40-60
hours per week depending on the facility you work at. This allows you to
earn extra income through overtime hours. If your facility doesn't schedule
those hours or cancels your shift, we will still pay you for the guaranteed
hours if you are available to work.
Can I request to work in a
specific area of the hospital?
Yes. We have travel nursing positions available in many different specialty
areas. In addition our nurses are often given the opportunity to float to
other areas of the hospital allowing them to gain experience in new areas.
Where are the majority of
FASTAFF’s travel nursing positions located?
FASTAFF has assignments available throughout the country. For up-to-date
information on the travel nursing opportunities we have available call us
at 877-912-9478 or visit our Current
Jobs and Featured
Jobs.
What if I want to work in
a city where FASTAFF doesn't have an assignment?
Let a FASTAFF Recruiter know what city you are interested in. If we do not
currently have a travel nurse assignment in that city, we will try to get
you into your desired location.
Application Process Questions How can I start my travel nursing
career with FASTAFF?
To become a FASTAFF travel nurse you must have one to two years of current
experience (based on specialty) and hold a current RN license. In addition,
you will need to complete all of the FASTAFF application requirements. Click
here to apply.
When do I become a FASTAFF
employee?
You become a FASTAFF employee as soon as you start your first assignment.
We withhold and pay all of your employment taxes, health insurance, and
Worker's Compensation, so you can focus on doing what you do best - nursing.
You may sign up for any benefits that are available, such as health insurance,
401(k) and dental insurance (benefit start dates may vary).
What happens after I submit
my application?
Once we receive your completed application, a FASTAFF representative will
contact you. They will assess your traveling and clinical preferences, and
review all available travel RN jobs suitable to your interests and qualifications.
Your Recruiter will then submit your profile to the facilities you have
chosen. We request from facilities that they review your file as soon as
possible because we know you’re ready to get to work.
Once you accept a position, we will send you all the necessary documents
to get you started on your travel nursing assignment. You will be contacted
by a travel and housing representative to discuss your travel arrangements
and living accommodations (if necessary). Your Recruiter will be available
to assist you on your assignments before, during, and after your placement.
Some nurses may travel within a week of applying, while others may take
more time.
Application Process Questions If I
discontinue benefits, when will I be able to sign up for them again?
If you decide to opt out of benefits during open enrollment, you will not
be able to enroll until the next open enrollment period (tentatively scheduled
for every December) unless you have a change of status.
What's the definition of overtime?
In most cases, overtime is time-and-a-half pay after 40 hours worked per
week. California has specific overtime laws that pay overtime after 8 hours
worked per day. Ask your Recruiter for details about a particular assignment.
Do you have a 401(k) plan?
Following 90 days with FASTAFF, you are eligible for our industry-leading
401(k) plan. We will match 100% of contributions up to the first 3% of compensation
plus 50% of contributions up to the next 2% of compensation; Employees must
be credited with at least 1,000 hours of service.

do you offer?

Travel & Housing Questions How does the transportation
reimbursement system work?
For your convenience, our Housing and Travel Department
coordinates ground transportation and calculates mileage reimbursements
for driving to and from your assignment. When you fly to your assignment,
your ground transportation expenses from the airport to the hotel/apartment
will be paid in your first paycheck.
If you drive to your assignment, mileage will be reimbursed at a pre-determined
mileage allowance based on each individual assignment.
With the assistance of our full service Travel
Department we assist you in your flight plans or submitting your documentation
for mileage to payroll for your first paycheck.
Upon leaving your assignment the return portion will be paid in Payroll
as well. This is a non-taxed reimbursement.
If you have any questions please contact our Housing
and Travel Department at 888-969-9211 or email us at
housingandtravel@fastaff.com.
Can I provide my own housing
while on my travel RN assignment?
Yes, if you'd like and if the facility agrees, we will pay you a housing
allowance in your paycheck. On a regular travel assignment with 48 plus
hours per week, we will pay you a pre-determined housing allowance based
on the cost of living in each individual assignment.
Am I allowed to bring pets to my assignment?
You can bring pets to an assignment, but only if you provide your own housing.
The housing allowance may not apply to some travel RN positions, so check
with your recruiter. We also provide private single supplement housing,
which sometimes allows pets in the hotel. There may be an extra charge or
deposit for this - check with your Recruiter.
