Licensing by State - South DakotaSouth Dakota is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. If you are licensed in this state you are eligible to practice nursing in 22 other states with your South Dakota license. Click here to view a list of the 22 participating NLC states. South Dakota is a walk-through state. A temporary license may be obtained within one hour to one day's time and used to practice nursing while applying for a permanent license.
