A temporary license may be obtained within one hour to one day's time and used to practice nursing while applying for a permanent license.View a list of all states that offer walk-through licensure. While DC is technically not a walk through state, you can quickly obtain a license in this state. Once you are confirmed for an assignment here, the hospital you’ll be working for will complete a Letter of Supervised Practice (LOS) on your behalf. The Board of Nursing will accept this LOS, along with your completed application, and issue your temporary permit that day!
